I'm building a new PC for my brother. He is only going to play games on it.

I was thinking of this setup.

Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD-RW SATA 1.5Gb/s
4096MB Gainward GeForce GTX 980 Aktiv PCIe 3.0 x16 (Retail)
650 Watt XFX TS Series Non-Modular 80+ Gold
250GB Crucial MX200 2.5" (6.4cm) SATA 6Gb/s( two of these)
Intel Core i7 4790K 4x 4.00GHz So.1150 TRAY
MSI Z97A Gaming 7 Intel Z97 So.1150 Dual Channel DDR3 ATX Retail
16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro Series silber DDR3-2133 DIMM CL11 Dual Kit
CoolerMaster Cosmos SE

Now I have been told this setup would be better:

Intel Core i5 6600K 4x 3.50GHz So.1151 WOFIntel
Scythe Mugen 4 Tower
Gigabyte GA-Z170XP-SLI Intel Z170 So.1151 Dual Channel DDR4 ATX
2x 8GB HyperX FURY schwarz DDR4-2133 DIMM CL14 Single
4096MB Gainward GeForce GTX 980 Aktiv PCIe 3.0 x16
Samsung DVD+-R/RW/DL/RAM SATA bulk
250GB Crucial MX200 2.5" (6.4cm) SATA 6Gb/s
CoolerMaster Cosmos SE
650 Watt XFX TS Series Non-Modular 80+ Gold

or this one would give the same performance but a little cheaper.

Intel Xeon E3-1231v3 4x 3.40GHz So.1150 BOX
Thermalright HR-02 Macho Rev. B Tower
Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD-RW SATA 1.5Gb/s
250GB Crucial MX200 2.5" (6.4cm) SATA 6Gb/s
16GB HyperX FURY blau DDR3-1866 DIMM CL10 Dual Kit
Gigabyte GA-H97-HD3 Intel H97 So.1150 Dual Channel DDR3 ATX
CoolerMaster Cosmos SE mit Fenster Big Tower o
650 Watt XFX TS Series Non-Modular 80+ Gold
4096MB Gainward GeForce GTX 980 Aktiv PCIe 3.0 x16

Is this information correct? Would you change something? Or totally another build?

I would take 4790k over 6600k any day of the week. For a gaming pc, 2 ssd's are far from necessary. Get a 250gb ssd and a 1-2 tb hdd.... 850 evo is much better than the mx200.

extreme 6 is a vastly better motherboard than the gaming 7 (although the gaming 7 is one of the best looking on the market for sure).

You dont need 16gb of ram, but with the cost being so low, it may be prudent to just go for that.

The gtx 980 is ok, but if you can squeeze into a 980 ti, I'd definitely go that route.

If youre on a single 1080p monitor, you can step down to a gtx 970/r9 390 and be extremely comfortable for a long time.

From my experience 2 ssd:s is really great. Windows and some programs on one and the games on the other. Doesn's mess up everything as fast and runs really smooth. A couple of the games we play really needs fast logging of the maps. They are not that expensive anyway. Ok have to check the 850 evo. Also gona check the extreme 6

8gb is a little to little so Im gona stick with 16gb for his comp. Im running on 8 and its not enough.

The plan is to buy 3 monitors soon. so gtx 970/r9 390 is out op options I think.

I have a 4790k and a gtx 970 myself. I say you should go for an MSI Gaming 5, 8-12gb of ram, and a 250gb boot drive with a 1tb hdd for storage. Take the extra money you have and go for the 980Ti instead. Also go for a modular power supply, they are very nice to have and easier to work with IMO!

If you are set on the current specs you have listed, why not just go for a 500gb 850 evo instead? Faster and cheaper if you can find a deal. 500gb is more than enough to get you started especially when hard drives are so cheap.
