so since ive done all these tests and all. where should i start when it come to overclocking my cpu. i chaged the spd timings to match the timing its shows to run 1600 ram. i am now running at 1600 mhz :) i ran the mem test on it and it came back with no errors. now its time for the cpu. just need a little help getting started

So begin the actual overclock process by increasing your CPU multiplier by .5x increments at stock voltage. Test the viability of the change by running a 20 minute Prime95 blend test after each .5x increase with HWMonitor always open on the desktop to monitor max core temps. When you first fail the 20 minute stress test, go into bios and increase the CPU core voltage by one small increment and retest. If you still fail, add a bit more core voltage. Repeat this cycle until your core temps reach 55 C., the "wall". Report back at that time with pics of CPU- z and your last run of HWMonitor. Then we will give you more instructions about tweaks. In the end you will be running two hour or more Prime95 stress tests to confirm stability and make any final necessary adjustments.

Bed time for me.

everytime i increase my multiplier .5 will i need to run the 20 min test?

Yes. 20 minutes is long enough to establish tentative stability but not so long as to take forever or to create unnecessary wear and tear at the beginning stages of the overclock.

ok thank you sorry for all the question's i just dont want to destroy my cpu in the proccess. id rather be safe then sorry. now since my ram is at 1600 i dont need to mess with any of the dram configs right? or will i need to overclock my ram more once my cpu gets higher?

No, you won't need to overclock your ram at any time. It is already at it's top rated frequency and you corrected the timings to be correct for XMP you said. Just mess with the CPU multiplier and voltage now.

so far so good im at 3600 without a voltage inscrease and my temps are right around 34 c. looks like you were right i am gonna be able to overclock this thing quite a bit. i will report back once i start having problems. im really glad i got this contac 30 cooler with the dual fans. seems like it was a good investment

Temps won't climb much until you start increasing the CPU core voltage.

alright im stable at 4026.99 MHZ had to inscrease stock voltage to 1.312
my temps are at 40 c

gonna work on this some more tomorrow.

thanks for the help so far.

im at 4.3 now with voltage at 1.42 temps at 48

i will post pics once i hit 55C hopefully it will get to 4.5 or beyond

well im stable at 4.5ghz and my temps finally hit 55c

here are the pics

i guess it time for the final stages. just dont know what to do

Prime it for two hours now. Then we might tweak the HT Link and CPUNB frequencies and the CPUNB voltage to either shore up the stability or progress the overclock.

Hey, please put your system specs in detail (you can refer to mine for a template) in your "Sig" so that we can have ready access to your hardware info as the thread gets long. Go the top of the page and Quick Links and Edit Signature.

specs are in im starting the test now. i will report back in a couple hours. thanks again

this started happening after an hour on my 3rd core

do i need to put in more voltage?

Before adding more CPU core voltage, try adding a bit more CPUNB voltage. I'm not exactly sure how much to tell you to add but 1.225 seems to help on the PII Thubans. Anyway I don't think it's so much that it would hurt anything on yours. I may have already told you this but a slight bump in ram voltage (say 1.5 to 1.55 seems to help stability also. At 4.53 you've got a pretty good overclock going there. Let's see if we can get it completely stable.
