I am gonna be disappointed in you if your only rocking 8tb by that point. I would think that at how much datasets have expanded in the last 5 years. That you would probably end up running something like 64-128tb of ram atleast in 10 years.

I have 10 gigs and I hardly reach ~7,5 with the things I do on my PC, mostly peak out at 4,5-5 doing everyday stuff.

16gb on main
8gb on HTPC

Ram is so cheap nowadays. 8 is the minimum i go when i build rig for friends.

I have 4GB and my newest game is BF3 it does not use all my ram..
Its all about how the OS manages your RAM, if you have 8 you'll use 4, while playing BF3.
Back when I had 1GB Windows 7 with firefox & skype running peaked out at 850-900MB, now I have 10 and OS itself uses 2GB without me doing anything.

Laptop has 8GB, Desktop has 12GB, new desktop will have 24GB, with 12GB for each processor.

Never used 100% of the ram on either computers... only got close with the laptop and Adobe Premier Pro.
