What is the difference installing a 64 DTR as opposed to the standard 64? From what i understand, the DTR does not have the nickle plated cover on top, so how do you use the proper thermal grease?

Are there any known "How To" sites w/ pictures?

spread the thermal grease over the core in a thin layer, and make sure that the heatsink is making proper contact.

yes, and you will most likely have to use an SLK-948u(or similar bolt on, NOT CLIP ON) HSF, to get proper die contact.
