Offtopic: I got thew same graphics card as you, but the highest freqs i could get it to do were 703/1464. how did you manage to get to the GTX level? different cooler or what?

stock cooling at 65% permanent fan speed

CPU Type: 165
Stepping: CCB1E 0609FPMW
Best Stable OC: 3004
VCore: 1.55(testing)
Temps: 35/40

CPU Type: 180
Stepping: LCB9E
Best Stable OC: 2832
Vcore: 1.375 sets but reads lower
Temps:42/53

Core 0 could probably get this on stock volts but core 1 is really weak. I raised Vcore all the way from 1.375 to 1.450 and it is still not stable at anything over 2.832. I raised the the LDT and Chipset voltage, lowered ram below 200Mhz(been tested up to 250). It wont budge.

my experience with the 165 was that it was totally stable at low voltages of 1.43v for 2.9Ghz, an 1100mhz increase for just 0.08v which i was quite pleased with, but i needed a substantial boost to get 3ghz and higher perfectly stable. I have seen a similar trend with many opteron dual cores here. You could be hitting that same wall at your 2.8ghz overclock, either way you wouldnt notice much of an improvement if you pushed up to 3ghz+. you'd need some good water cooling for that.

I just bought a kinda cheapo WC kit forom sidewinder, The FuZion Extreem cpu block, a 350 GPH pump off Ebay, Swiftech Micro res, and an HW Labs Black Ice res. I just wanted a small intro setup to WC and nothing expencive because I am about to start my "Project Redneck" phase project. It is just getting to hot here to OC with air.

My Opty seems to be doing just fine :)

Still testing and burning it in...All this is with stock VCore.

I hope to hit 2.85 stable before my luck runs out

Hi, This post of mine is very knowledgable and may enhance the information of the viewers , however I would like some specific information for myself. If someone can help me then please send me a private message. Best Regards,

opteron 185

I ran stable at 240x12 2888ghz
love it
Here we have 2916 243x12 in the picture

Is this a good oc?
I want to know what else I can do to bump it up more.
I really don't want to spend days tweaking my memory...just want the best effort with little work.
Does everything look OK?

Suggestions?

Unless you have 4 sticks of RAM you should change the CR to 1T (if possible).

Also, your HT Link should be running near 1000 MHz (in your case 4x = 960 MHz) - did you turn the multi for it down or is CPU-Z reporting a wrong number ...?
