I can't download anything?!?!?

I can't download any files and they say Failed - Virus detected, not working. I looked this up extensively and spent 2 hours trying to find out, I cannot use Gpedit, I cant download stream becuase that fails too. Also i cannot access the attachment manager, I don't know if this is the righ tplace to put this, but please help!

I ran into this exact problem last week with my father's Vista Home Premium PC. Browsers all failed to download files. In his case, it turned out to be an issue with AVG.
