Run mbam and some other anti virus and then do backups of all important files (in safe mode).
Then you perform a clean reinstall. You will have to explain to the owner though to make sure you don't miss any files that have to be backuped.
I can't see from the log whether or not you have a virus. But Google told me pckeeper is not a virus, you simply see ads (assuming you don't use an ad blocker). The revoked certificate seems to point to malware.

Some people will tend to disagree with me, telling you simply removing the malware or a system restore is enough. I might be overcautious here BUT if you have a malware infection that got past your security you have no idea what else might got in that you can't see or remove. So you have to assume your system is compromised until you set it up with completely new.

Malware gets by security all the time. This happens whether you run nothing or have several software and hardware layers protecting you.

Removing it is often enough depending on what it is doing. Mbam, rkiller, etc are good at targeting the most common types and removing them rather quickly. If there are no obvious signs that the computer is adversely affected by it or something else, don't go through the work if you don't have to. Certainly not fair to someone if you're charging them. Do you get a cancer screening when you break your arm? Or have your transmission replaced after an oil change? :p

Did I miss something? He can do it himself, no costs :)
I said it can be seen as too much, I don't go that far that I only use backups that were not connected to the infected PC. However it is a fact that an easy to remove malware can open doors for hard to spot Trojans etc. (Worst case though).
Especially if it is not the OPs laptop and the owner stores there important files or does online banking I would not be comfortable to leave him with a not thoroughly cleaned system.
Just my opinion, but unless I reinstall I regard the system as compromised.

I know that mbam is pretty effective, that's why I recommend it :)

I do PC repair and consultation and I haven't seen PCKeeper, though I have seen many many things like it. A lot are ransomware or just scams to get money. Another large chunk are straight up paid-for software that don't really fix anything, which is what this likely is. I also saw in your HiJackThis that you have Babylon, which was at one time considered malware - though I think since it's been removed as such. It's still considered disruptive and intrusive.

These things are so common and they quite easily bypass a lot of security software. Luckily they are, most times, a snap to remove. Most intrusive software I come across on client PCs are as simple as uninstalling it via the OS uninstaller, resetting browser settings and removing addons, ripping out the left over directories in program files and user's app data. Clean out temp files and run a good anti-malware when done for good measure. Malwarebytes Anti-malware and CCleaner are great!

Curious how you solved this particular situation. Did you perform a manual removal or did a scanner clean it up?

Best,
Rick

I just got notified of another today. Just a webpage that emulated Microsoft Security Essentials.
