Java error in windows 8

Hello everybody. I am running windows 8 on my pc and I can run any java applications. I have reinstalled java jdk several times from the java website and a few times from cnet. But every time I try to run a .jar file it says whats in the pic below. I am out of ideas for fixing hoping someone with a bit more knowledge can help thanks.

When will Java be supported in Windows 8?
Windows 8 is officially supported with the release of Java 7 Update 10. Java will only be supported in Desktop screen. Java will not run in the Start screen.

I do have it running in desktop not start screen I cant stand the start screen. I downloaded the latest java jdk from the website.

Are you sure you don't want JRE2 Java Runtime Enviroment ?

Is that one better for windows I haven't used windows?
