I've done a lot of checking and searching and haven't really found much on the subject. Is lapping an HDT sink ok? I really have no clue how thin those heatpipes are. Anyone have any experience or knowledge on the subject?

You have to be exceedingly careful, the heatpipes are made out of very, very, very thin copper and even the tiniest pinhole destroys them entirely.

So it sounds like for now I will be leaving this alone. I'm not in need of those few extra degrees just yet so why take the risk. If I ever do OC this sucker high enough that I need a few extra degrees I'll give it a shot and post the results.

Not worth the time and effort. HDT is about as effective as you can get anyway without going liquid.
