I was thinking about hidding my case in the closet with my new house. I found 25' and 50' DVI cables on ebay for a good price. How big of a performance hit would I see doing this? The plan also includes running a 25' USB cable for my mouse/kb.

Is there a difference if it is VGA? If it matters, I am using a evga 7800GT with 170 opt.

Thanks for your expertise.

USB's limit is 12' unless you have active hubs or repeaters. I wouldnt run that long of cables. It may work, it may not. It may cause intermittent issues, it may not. I wouldnt trust them.

DVI = Digital
VGA = Analoge

Difference = Yes.

How much? It depends on monitor. I found that with DVI on my monitor, I avoid ghosting and letters are more clear. This makes it easier to read and better for gaming.
