It is my impression that the mobo needs little cooling. or needs very little cooling and can be adequately cooled passively with a case fan or case vents.

I know the real need for cooling is the CPU and the PSU.

Now when I over clock I will add a water cooled CPU cooler
But
For now can I eliminate all case fans and cool with vents or case tops and bottom off?

My system:
Core i5-3550 Ivy Bridge 3.3GHz
GIGABYTE GA-Z77MX-D3H LGA 1155 Intel Z77
Thermaltake Pure 480W Power Power Supply Model: Pure Power-480APD
Case Rosewill FBM-01
G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
2 Tb HDD
DVD/Blue ray read write/light scribe
Not that the display makes any difference
but
50" plasma
Oh
Control is mainly with MS wireless mouse.
Operating system
Windows 8

sides of the case off sure.. on, you would want to keep an eye out..especially under load on air as that warm are is inside the case.

The PSU does not need cooled.
