msi g41 p33 mobo wont overclock

Hello I have a problem..I cant get my motherboard to overclock.. Not even to 2.9ghz I have a core 2 quad Q9550 (2.83ghz) and every time i try to overclock to even 2.9ghz It will not boot up is there something I should know...Please HELP!!!

After bumping the FSB to ~340MHz (340MHz x 8.5 = 2.9GHz), what's the effective DRAM frequency? And what's the exact model of RAM you have, including rated frequency, timings, and voltage?

Im at work ill get that for you tonight... the ram is crucial ballistix sport 1333...it seems to jump back and forth maybe a setting in bios can change that??..thanks so much for trying to help me out!!
