Here is a list of my plans so far just curious what you all think i need to keep it under 1500. Plans for it are gaming(ghost recon, call of duty, brothers in arms ect.) Photoshop and fireworks work, and some mild audio work using adobe audition.

Most of it looks good.

Asus cooler definitly not...

Xigmatek AIO... dunno

Would just get hte Xigmatec 120mm rifle cooler. About 35 on the EGG IIRc. Best bet on a budget.

Also, why on DVDROM and one DVDRW? I would just get 2 RWs... not much of a price difference I think, and gives you more options.

Thanx Neuro thats the type of things i need to look at. As for the 1 burner i've had issues trying to add a second burner to systems i always seem to have issues with 2 burners like there is always a conflict.

Interesting. I have never had dual dvdrws in a system before so did not know about any problems.

Just out of curiosity, where they both IDE drives on the same cable?

PSU: I'd go for a Corsair or PC P&C 750W. They are usually right around $100 AR. Not for the extra 'Watts', but b/c of the proven reliability and superior build quality. I'm not familiar w/ Coolmax.

HDDs: The WD 640AAKS is on sale right now for $60. The 250GB drives are not very cost effective per GB compared to the higher density drives right now. Try to keep your $/GB ratio below $0.10/GB if you can.

RAM: How much does that set cost? I've seen some good deals on 2x3GB lately. Are you using a 32-bit or 64-bit OS?

Cooler: Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme 1366 or Xigmatex 120mm cooler mentioned above.

Case: Not sure on how good that NZXT is w/ airflow, but I like the Antec900 or Thermaltake Armor or Armor+.

Do you plan on overclocking?

change the case. you have no idea how important a good case is. grab something with lots of large quiet fans.

That is exactly what he picked

The NZXT Zero takes a antec 900 slaps it across the face, eats it, poops it out and then steps on it when it comes to cool and quiet.

Absolutely the coolest running case I have ever had.

Little tight for long vid cards, but no worse than a 900. I like EATX cases myself though.

Definately second jason on the PSU. Get a good quality PSU. You arent running SLI or XFire, so a GOOD 500 watt PSU would be enough (500 watt quality > 700 watt junk).

And I agree, look at a Xigmatek 1283, Sunbeam, or TRUE for cooling for air.

Also, look at a 640gb Western Digital HDD. Would be much better than 2 Seagates IMO.

yeah, if you get a bigger hard drive, it is likely to run faster than the 250's that you have listed...

with more space on the hard drive, the platters are denser which allows more information to be gleaned from each revolution of the platter.

i haven't looked in depth at the 250's that you've listed, so they may very well have platters with equal densities (in which case, both hard drives would have the same performance)...

the cost per gigabyte is soo cheap these days that you could spend just a few bucks more than those 250s and get much more... i second the idea of getting the 640gb wd...

Thanks for the advice guys. Plans are to over clock in the near future but not right out of the gate. I'm a tech guru at heart. I did alter plans a bit last night as i think i'm going to get a 1tb drive for storage and an 160gb for my OS which is 32 bit vista sp1.

And dual burners causing conflicts? nuh uh.
