How is the cable sleeve modding done like in this picture? I am interested in doing that with all my cables just like Shazza. I see it is a pretty common cable mod these days and have always wondered the correct way of doing it.

Fan Connectors - Etc...

What are all the tools you recommend me having for all the wire mods possible. For fan connectors, and you already posted molex and atx. What are most used?

i had that sunbeam kit and it didnt last i wouldnt buy it bro.. it was much easyer using a staple to extract the pins from the 24pin connector...the only one that actually works pretty good is the molex extractor

god i hate that individual sleeving crap thats all the rage now adays. the whole point of sleeving is to bundel the wires together so they take up less space and to promote airflow... not make another "ribbon cable" that inhibits airflow.

i swear its like a pendulum. you got flashy comp with leds, acrylic cases, and cold cathodes on one side, and stealthy comp (no windows, few leds, aka a sleeper) on the other side. and the trend is swinging back to the gody flashy side of things.

you mean PCs are getting more ricer? L:santa:
i used to have 10 blue LED fans in my case...now i've taken them all out. i've gone for the more refined look as well...i'm started to love the sleek non flashy look.

but i like the new sleeving, it adds a cool factor to the case...and your wires bend easier when routing :p

actually when you sleeve your cables like that its to make your case look real sleek...

ofcourse your not gonna have a ****load of individualy sleeved wires all over the place then its really going to restrict airflow but done right it can make the little wire you do expose after a wire tuck look really nice i.e.

this is a BIG NO

man, that link for 'BIG NO' is so pointless. his sleeving obstructs airflow even more lol.
but the other 3 pics are sleek and effective. separate sleeving of each wire lets you bend them more...adds flexibility to them.

here's some pure sleekness

Re: the {quote} Cheap stuff{/quote} from Petras Etc. Please show me how some monofilament braided in X color from ANY shop is better then monofilament braided in X color from any other shop.

Wait? There's a difference? :screwy: I guess those of us who have sleeved our own cables have been doing it with the wrong stuff all these years.

Exactly, there is no difference deadly.

its a tube of braided fishing line, not exactly the most complex item on earth and it isnt like you can really tell cheap from uber high super quality excluding that the cables show through the sleeve.

well that is the difference... the whole point of sleeving each individual cable is so you dont see the colors of the cables so if you buy the sleeving kits from petras or frozen cpu you can see through the braid... unlike the ones from murdermod....

its pure aesthetics bro its not like the "cheap" braids are going to fall apart....

Nothing like helping the PSU to restrict airflow. If not seeing the colors of the wires is of that much importance, I am sure there are other ways of going about it. I personally like the way my Antec Neo is sleeved from the factory, and since the cables are mostly hidden due to cable management, except where they come back through the mobo tray to plug in to the components, I don't really see any point in spending that much on sleeving it.

It adds a custom look to it that looks amazing! Price isn't that bad, just a few dollars and alot of your time.

lol, there's only a few PCs i like there. some of them are too crazy for my taste. some look a bit ricer as well...especially those robot looking ones :p

i'm trying to achieve an all-black look in my Antec 900 as well. needa cut a few holes and do that cable sleeving...looks so damn good lol.

With very good cable management, the cables are hardly even noticeable anyway. I don't understand the point in putting too much money into sleeving the cables if they are hidden except for maybe a couple of inches here and there. The last time I remember getting a PSU that wasn't already sleeved was one that came with a case, so I just robbed the fan out of it and tossed it out. I do remember a few Antec cases that came with decent (not great but not terrible) PSU's, but most anything I get that way from my parts distributor gets the fan stolen and thrown in the trash.

my Coolermast PSU doesn't come with cable sleeving, except for the 24 pin cable.
so i got a whole bunch of yellow and red wires through my Antec 900 (which coincidentally doens't have cable management either lol).

if i can cable sleeve each cable, so non of the yellow/red sticks out, my cables will look invisible anyway...as i've painted my 900 black.

and besides the cool aesthetics, individual sleeving makes the cables more bendable/flexible ;)
