There's some good tips in this thread, you'll also see a bunch of us at Witch Doctors in PA. Makes sure you have something on the back of the board to keep condensate from collecting and it's a good idea to use shop towels or similar on top as the cold tends to "flow" downward and chills a lot of things like RAM etc. around the board fans help with this too. I didn't have a good dry ice experience my first time and jumped right into LN2. Found it easier to work with aside from cold bugs.

Yeh i got back covered same stuff i have for pot nepropenene or something like that . I learnt from when i had my cascade . Just need shop towels i forgot about that cheers

Looking forward to seeing some frosty pic's!

Remember you need fresh air coming into the space while you're benching.

You don't like Acetone headaches?

Some grocery stores carry Dry Ice for sale... that's where I got mine. You may want to make some phone calls and see.

Lol this is the UK here we cant do that i wish:rofl:

Just got email its on its way should get it tomorrow before 10am uk time

Tips that I have learned :)
91% IPA will become a GEL @ -68c/-92f .. Acetone Gave me an additional 1.5s - 2.0s of cooling before the temps started to increase when running a CPU bench. IPA gave a temp of -68c and Acetone was -71c
20 Pounds of dry ice (4 pound blocks) = 10 kilos and I was able to bench for 6 hours. I used a chop stick to stir the mixture in my KingPin pot. I used a hammer/meat tenderizer to break the dice into smaller chunks for the pot. Use glass for the Acetone (as it will eat plastic) I used a shot glass and a 1/2 liter plastic bottle (big opening)for scooping & pouring dice into pot.

Remember - Pictures while cold or it never happened :)

Have Fun

Cheers madmutt all i got is IPA its 99.9% so i hope thats ok . I was wondering if i ordered enough i got 20kilo so from what you said i can take my time . I got the dry ice in pellet form im hoping thats ok
Ill take plenty of pics

Pellet is better than blocks as you have to crush the block up for best results/quicker cold. Large chunks would sustain clocks, but the more surface area you have on the pellets the quicker your pull down (rate depends on pot, of course). But since it's Dry Ice, you can run as cold as you want with these chips (IIRC).

wow, this is cool. Almost makes me miss the 2 pots that I have forwarded to bench team members here.

Like ED said, pellet is much better. I used to buy 20kg for the whole weekend and was just right.
I don't know what about availability of acetone as the pure one is harder to get recently and if it's not pure then results are significantly worse. Most stores are selling it mixed with something else like a nail polish remover or a paint thinner.

Yes glad i went pellets as my pot is narrow . I put a few in bit isopropyl 99.9 easy to get here . So i messed on with just a few -ellets in jar just to see how qiuck they disappear and was shocked to see how slow they ill say dissolve pleasantly so . I thought i would be running around topping up all the time . I have a cup of coffee and its all sedate
Ive took it further down to -45 and ran r23 at 5.1 so far all good . Few pics

- - - Auto-Merged Double Post - - -

Lol think i put to much iso in lol

Lowest temp so far after putting in more iso perhaps i didnt have enough in

One more thing. I see on the photos there is no discrete graphics card. If you have anything, even slow, then use it in the last pcie slot as it may help with CPU and RAM OC.

Ohhh yes i got excited forgot to put it in lol ill do that now

Hey now.......... great job on that!!!! There's nothing wrong with picking low-hanging fruit!!

What Memory are you using?
Not sure of your MB or Memory BUT my i7-6700k with B-Die will hit 3866 @ 12-12-12-28. Set the memory to 3733 @ 12-12-28 1T and voltage to 1.75v working up to 1.8v and see if it will boot. If it boots but crashes at windows you need to follow my guide here :) https://www.overclockers.com/forums...t-more-than-4GB-for-benching-in-win-7-2012-10.
You are doing a quick sprint so you can set the memory voltage higher.
Keep working on it :)

Thanks for reply in hwbot i went to look and reply back and it blocked me :p

Memory is crucial BL16G36C16U4BL its all lighty horrible .
but it seems it does not like to run at 3600 on this maximus gene 8 or anything close so got fed up set it at 3200 ill have a look at youre link . On my main i run 4000 but it will not run higher tried everything had a post about it here everything .
