so, i was checking cpu-z and it says qpi link speed is only 3200 mhz now? am i stupid or is there some formula like 2xcpu-z = total= 6.4 GT/s? what is normal qpi link speed for my system or similar, and how do i get it higher(if its any benefit from that)? tnx

The default QPI Link frequency for SB-E is 3200 MHz (32*100 BCLK). Raising the BCLK / strap to 125 for example in turn raises the QPI Link to 5000 MHz (40*125 BCLK), 130 BCLK (40*130 = 5200 MHz), etc. The higher link frequency equates to somewhat better scores in benchmarks primarily.

will there be any real life improvement in raising it? i run a minor overclock now @ 4.2Ghz(42x100). how would you have done overclocking with my system? my cpu only score 7.7 stock in wei :( and how does the qpi relate to GT/s?

Since you're currently at 4.2GHz, instead of 100*42 try setting the strap to 125 w/ the BCLK set to 116 (116*36 = 4.2Ghz), which equates to a PCI-E/DMI frequency of 116/1.25 = 93.33. As far as a noticeable improvement, like I mentioned you'll see performance increases in benches primarily.

yes, but by that i mean like games etc? and what other differences will i see by downing multiplier and rise bclk? what would the GT/s be with bclk @ 116? tnx for helping me =)

yes but, all i want to know is about numbers. if they are good i will do further testing of stability!
