Hi all,

I've done upgrading before but this is going to be my first scratch build and was hoping some more knowledgeable people might be able to help cast an eye over it. The system is going to be used for Unreal Development Kit work and Blender design work.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H87-HD3 Intel H87 Socket 1150
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/giga...-sata-raid-pcie-30-(x16)-d-sub-dvi-d-hdmi-atx

CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz Socket 1150 Quad Core Haswell
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/inte...1ghz-33ghz-turbo-1100mhz-gpu-31x-ratio-retail

RAM: 2 X Corsair Memory Vengeance Black 4GB DDR3 1600 MHz CAS 9 XMP Dual Channel
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/4gb-...600)-non-ecc-unbuffered-cas-9-9-9-24-xmp-150v

GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 760 DirectCU II OC Graphics Card - 2GB

PSU: Cooler Master 720W RS-720-SPM2 Silent Pro M2 80 Plus Bronze

(1) Can anyone see any glaring issues with this setup?

(2) The CPU is rated at Max TDP: 84W and the GPU at 170W. I couldn't find any power requirements for the motherboard. It's going to be running:
-2 x IDE drives 7200rpm
-DVD writer
-some cheapo creative labs speakers
-2 each of these fans:

Do you think 720W will be sufficient?

Thanks for any advice!

Get a Seasonic G 550. It'll be over kill and much better quality than the Cooler Master you listed.

Hell, a quality 400W CPU will be plenty with that not overclockable PC...

+1 to the 550W Seasonic mentioned. :)

The Seasonic is already 12 pounds cheaper than the PSU he has listed!

I agree, it could be done with less wattage for sure.

Thanks guys! Just reading up on that PSU and looks nice and quiet, which is exactly what I'm looking for. Would you definitely say the 550W is sufficient, no need for something like the 650?

You don't even have a need for 450W, like I said earlier, the 550W is overkill.

Just did the math, you'll pull 314W at full load on the computer for both CPU and GPU.
If you manage any sort of an overclock it won't be much at all, and that would most likely be short of 350W.

So you have 200W+ of headroom with the PSU I suggested.
You could easily (very easily in fact) run the system on a Corsair CX430.
