Hi All,

I won't bore you with too much system spec. GB EX58 with an i7 920 2.66. Zalman copper cooler. I want to change the copper for a water cooler. Recommendations please?

Thanks
DK

Budget
how much room do you have for rads in your case (place for a 120.1 or 120.2 or 120.3)

The only water cooling that is worth it is the sort you build yourself. Those preassembled kits don't work very much better than a good heatsink.

umm, nope. The smaller radiator low rpm ones are a great way get the same performance of a 4 heatpipe direct cooler with a medium to loud noise fan, with the same quiet... so can be just as good, but the whole noise vs heat dispersion vs cost factor (as the top of the line heatsinks still cost +$50) so for another $20 (or $20 less than the frio extreme) ya get not only quieter, but better than most cooling, oh, and ya can cut out the 2 120mm intake and exhausts fans that keep ya up at night too...

also since enthusiast pumps and rads take the better part of the $70 linked all in one setup, not sure how the cpu only watercooler can justify the cost of a $42 radiator from dangerden: http://www.dangerden.com/store/black-ice-xtreme-radiator.html

for Air, as long as it takes for teh dust to block the fan, same with all in one, for custom water: could be 3 minutes if you don't ziptie down your tubes..... so be sure to include likelihood of mishap ;)

Umm, DangerDen is out of business. Was a family death and the website was overtaken by other sites. DD never really came out with anything for many years except the GPU blocks and was overtaken by more ... places with more products. DD had a real job also and had to let it go with life issues last year.

Just had to mention that. Yea, that rad can be a good one, Black Ice rads can be bought at other stores. That rad is pretty good with some 3000 RPM fans. Not a bad rad. But the noise will be umm loud?

for air.. the time needed to (brutally) flip your case upright so the 2,5 lbs "tower" cooler can snap your MB in two :)
or
just hitting the power switch... to power up the 8 Delta PFB1212UHE bolted to the case/HS and connected trough multiple fan-splitters to ONE CPU_FAN header

I'm sure we can come up with some more reasons why some people should not be allowed to touch a screwdriver :)

Damn... didn't know. I liked 'em cuz he was as "local" as I could get.. that sucks

Thanks for helping me make the point that the buying a lower end rad by itself pretty much pays the company the same amount of margin (total) that you pay out with an all in one unit... (and you still got every other component to buy).

this rad then: http://www.swiftech.com/mcrx20-xp-radiator-series-1.aspx ;)

If you do decide to go monster all in, tri fan rad and all that... like me ;) do post back with what you intend to cool with your loop and what your budget is; Our classifieds here can be a great source of mutually beneficial transactions. :grouphug:
