Receiver: Pioneer VSX-817-K|S or ONKYO TX-SR506

I looking at these two on newegg and they are $50 apart. Both 7.1.

Which one do you think is better?

Personally, I have had better results with onkyo, but damn that receiver is pretty ugly.... Both look good. And Pioneer I have also had no problems with in the past.

I would say the Pioneer, looks+cheaper. (yes I know, just not much else to go by, same specs, etc.)

I've had great luck with Onkyo. Pioneer is a cut below imo, but would still work fine.

I own and use the TX-SR503 and am very happy with it.
