So I'm a new builder and I majorly screwed up by buying an H87 board instead of a Z87 board (intel's fault by being scam artists). So I basically have an H100i cooling my CPU when it maxes at 35 degrees with my H87 board.

Is it safe to disable this without unhooking it? How do you even disable it completely?

I want to disable it because it's pointless to run it and have it lose life when it's not even needed yet. Or should I buy a Z87 board? Or should I wait until 2014/2015 to buy a new motherboard? (Any point in waiting anyway?)

If you disable the pump on the cooler, there will be nowhere for the chips heat to go. Remove it, and put the stock cooler back on.

The block is still doing work even if you aren't over clocking it. Leave it on.

I'm not really sure what this person's asking.

I don't know if they mean to disable the software, the fans, or the pump itself.
