Socket 2011 backward compatibility?

Are socket 2011 motherboards backward compatible to 1155 processors such as the 2600K?

Socket 2011 while similar is size is not pin compatible with Socket 1155(or any other) processors. Please do not try to insert and operate your 2600K in a 2011 Socket. The end result will not be pretty.

They are not even similar in size.. s2011 is huge compared to s1155...

While this IS true there ARE some who would try to put the square peg in the round hole. . . . just saying
