if i were to have lets say 3 100w tec's stacked ontop of eachother in series would the total heat dump be 300w?
this isnt going to be part of a computer i just need a controllable heat source :D

heres a crappy diagram of how i was thinking
c=cold side h = hot side t=tim

ch-t-ch-t-ch (300w of heat?)

would the cold side benifit from having a heatsink on it to help keep warmth going into it to be pumped out the other side?

I think what you would mostly have is a fried TEC. They don't stack well unless they're staged in wattage also.
A 50w can be cooled by a 100w that is cooled by a 200w.
A 100-100-100 gives the last poor tec something over 200w of heat that it has to move, plus the 100 going into itself. A 100w tec can successfully move 30-75w of heat (roughly, it varies widely by the delta-T you want).
If you lined 'em in in parallel, it'd be fine.
Putting a heatsink on the cold side will increase the total wattage on the hot side as more heat is being picked up from the air.

What're you plotting to do? I may have Brilliant Ideas of Dubious Sanity :D

oh weel see :sn: crap i guess that idea isnt going to work at all need to find a better way to generate heat lol i think i found the ticket :D 200w can be run in series and not tec's :)

edit also found some 500w beast ;D i think i r ready

just ordered the 500w beast :D
holy crap ive spent way too much today lol

You didn't spend too much You spent too much when they can't afford to toss your old dead body in a paupers grave. Everything before that is already spent on 'good times'.

indeed the creation shal be showing its face in the next couple weeks ;)

Now, that's a cool way of thinking. I will surely use it to justify upgrading my SLi for a single 780 when they're released.
