Is that your actual resolution? 1440x900? You're missing out if it is.. Lol. :p. Man.. I'm considering replacing my GTX 580 with 2 HD 7870s... Lol. My resolution is just too taxing for too many mods =(

What frame rates are you seeing at 2560x1600?

2560x1440* =D.

With my GTX 580 at 900 core; I average 50-60 fps. Scene depending. But I do dip sometimes to around 35-40. Ambient Occlusion via the nvidia panel adds a good drop to fps in darker areas. Specifically inside the Theives Guild... Dunno why lol. Very much playable. But I prefer 60fps constant.. Everytime it drops below 60; you get that instant sort of 'lag'.. I hate it XD.

Damn. I just got the game last week and was planning to try the HD mod. Now I think it'll kill my 560 :(

I think a GTX 560 Ti should be fine for 1080p. 2560x1440 is like 70% more pixel space than 1080p. And I'm pretty sure a GTX 580 is not 70% faster than a GTX 560 ti :p.

That said; I'd be more concerned with your VRAM becoming an issue with lots of texture mods. I'd say your card is fast enough; but I'd wonder how the 1GB VRAM would hold up?

my single gtx570 was totally fine with loads of 4k texture mods at 2560x1440 on my u2711. Your 560 will prob be great at 1080p.

In SLI with both 570s and all texture mods at 2560x1440 its a dream though. Mjolnir if you're laggin with a 580 at this resolution you need to get the drivers they released yesterday...

New features and performance since R285 WHQL-certified driver
Game-changing performance boost of up to 45% in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, “the fastest selling title in Steam’s history”

I've been using the Beta Drivers for a while now :p. The 290 drivers. before the 295 were released. Then I upgraded to the 295; and I have the 296 now. I have my shadows altered as well via the ini file. I have a handful of texture mods and such. I'm not 'lagging' per se. But it's not as smooth as I'd like it :p.

Hmm. Maybe Skyrim likes Sandy bridge more over my i7 930? You're not only at a higher clock speed; but running a better architecture.. Perhaps this makes a bit of difference at this res? Architecture into consideration; your 4.8ghz 2600K is probably a 5.4ghz i7 930 LOL.

Yeah I'd have to say going from 1440x900 to 1920x1200 amplifies the immersion factor by several magnitudes.. ;)

But seriously I'll give hardcore a try.

I was was really surprised to see the game run on high settings on my wife's laptop, its got a GTX260 and a 2.90 core2duo.

Should get a second 580 for SLI... should check the classifieds ;)

The game does look great there though, even with that lower res. I play everything at 1920x1200!

1440x900?

(╯°O°)╯ *FUS ROH DAH* ︵ ┻━┻

Skyrim is worth playing on any resolution, in my opinion :D

I can confirm this. I have a single 560TI and TONS of high texture mods. It runs beautifully silky smooth with no slowdown at all at 1920x1080 and everything set to max.

What the hell was up with that suplex and body slam in the video? This is SkyRim, not WWE you jabronis. Can you dig it?
