great guide!!

as for MP/TV-Series setup, well, as long as you have correctly named each episode, MP TV-Series will pick it up and download the info from thetvdb.com. e.g. tv_series_name S1E05.mpg (I work and setup dozens of tv series/episodes over at thetvdb.com included some foreign series)

p.s. at the moment, this thread is still alive since it is a grey area and most mods/admins agree with it. however, the owner of the forum, iNet, will have the last word if needed!

That is the sole purpose of this tutorial. Not to make backups, but to transfer the shows into an HTPC so they can be viewed without having to swap physical media. Attached is just the tip of the iceberg, that's half of one shelf and I have several. Horrible cell pic but you get the idea, that's a lot of TV series.

Ratbuddy, that's A LOT of porn... errr TV series I mean. :) Nice guide  Time for me to get ripping, thanks.

Haven't gotten to doing the MP TV Series part yet, but like LandShark said, it's pretty no-brainer to get it working. Still going to post it though, because there are a few gotchas to watch out for.

Aside from that, has anyone used this to rip anything yet? Was it OK? Suggestions?

come on ratbuddy dont get lazy now wheres the rest of the tut :p and yes i have ripped a lot of series with your method it has helped A LOT thanks again bro!

Sorry, just haven't been on the other computer in a while. Next time I fire it up, I'll get it done.

RatBuddy,

huge +1 for this how-to!!! I have been screwing around with the fastest way to rip TV series DVD's and your how-to Really, really helped! It makes it soooooo fast to blow through season's of shows!!!

Just wanted to say thanks!!! and MPTV found the shows right away...
BTW-I did have a problem getting the episode names for the 1st season of Big Bang Theory but I am guessing thats a MPTV/TVDB issue...

GarenT

Glad it was helpful :)

I lazed out on adding the MP TV Series section because it really is pretty simple to use.

There are definitely issues with that plugin, for example when it asks me for season order and offers options of 'as aired,' 'dvd,' or 'absolute' or whatever, it never even finds the episodes unless I select 'aired,' and then it gets the order wrong and they have to be manually renamed.

Small price to pay I guess, and :welcome:

I use DVD fab decrypter, because dvd shrink cant rip all of them. Once its ripped, then I convert them to Divx, and store them on my server for later streaming... I don't have to break out the DVD's ever again...

Hi guys! Im a spammer that got caught trying to push their crappy ripping software on this forum. So I got banned, along with my 5 other aliases I had stashed since November 1.
