i was thinking about replacing my stock fan that came with my processor. i don't know where exactly to start. i don't really have a concern with over heating right now, both cores run around about 130 Fahrenheit. but i do plan to over clock more. i was looking at something like this

i am concerned about space. my cpu is pretty close to my ram. i have an asus p5 series mother with an Intel 775 socket.

If your case is big enough, you may want to consider a heatsink with a 120mm fan on it. It's gonna make less noise and you can find one for not much more money.

i have plenty of case space. i'm more worried about it interfering with components on mobo

TX3 is not very good.
Interfering with components on mobo is usually caused by tall RAM or PCI slot too close to CPU. Tall RAM is the most common. PCI slot interference sometimes with very wide coolers like Silver Arrow SB-E

It's offset design clears RAM. Cooling is very good and as a result the fan doesn't need to spin very fast so is very quiet.

Assuming it's the stock Intel fan, a simple no cost "upgrade" is to cut the blue wire on the fan.

The blue wire is the PWM control and if it is not working the fan runs full speed on constant 12 volts feed.

If you decide to do this I suggest to just remove the pin from the plug and put some tape on it so it can't short to something. And it will be loud!
