I always turn it on for asus boards, but what does it do? Does it increase voltage somewhere, change switching frequency of something, I have never seen it explained anywhere...

What is it?

Thats a good question. I remember seeing in a review somewhere that it helps reduce cold bugging somehow, but the crux of that question is the same as yours, HOW does it do that if that is what's happening. I think one could reach out to Raja@Asus and see what he says it actually does.

On boards like the Rampage 3 it helped with cold-bugs and cold slow.

But on modern boards it doesn't really do anything since the chips are so cold limited.
On AMD I have no idea what it does though
