Will the Noctua NH-D14 fit my case?

I'd like to purchase the NH-D14 CPU cooler. However, I'm not entirely sure it will fit my case.

I own a rather old HEC Compucase 6A19 midi-tower case. There should enough room between the mainboard and the side panel (180mm) to fit the Noctua beast. I am not sure though, it will fit between the PSU and the rear 120mm case fan. I've included a few pictures of my current setup (with the intel stock fan). Sorry for bad quality.

So, will the NH-D14 fit my case?

Methinks your case has to be at least 8" wide. If not, no way.

So measure it. And depending on the case, its airflow might be weak to start with.

Looking on the web, it's a 2003 case.

I duuno, your talking old school here, can't even find stuff on the web for specs.

My case's Dimensions:

W: 210 mm (8.3")
H:460 mm (18.1")
D:430 mm (16.9")

It's basically the following case only a bit different on the outside (probably just an older uglier version):

On the inside it's identical.

So yeah, it's over 8" wide. Should I get the NH-D14 or go with something a bit smaller like the Mugen 2?

Well, I figured if I'm already gonna put money into this, might as well get the best. The price difference is not THAT big, so I'll be happier with the NH-D14.

But if it doesn't fit my case or totally kill airflow in it(is that possible?), then yeah, that's gonna suck :]

Won't kill airflow, it's not that great in that case anyway. Front fan and a back fan. And a side fan.

Depending on the placement, the side fan can block the cooler.

What is your new hardware you need cooling for? Lets get to the real reason.........

lol look again my friend, there's not even a side fan in this primitive case. Only front and rear. The hardware aint even new, it's a super shi.tty computer I'm trying to totally silent. Currently my stock CPU fan is making some nice amount of noise.

The rig:
CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 2.66 GHZ.
Board - Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L

As for now, this crap machine is more than enough for my needs, besides being silent that is. I will however, eventually have to upgrade it as my needs are about to change. At that point the NH-D14 will probably become very handy. In the meantime, I'll be able to enjoy some nice overclocking and complete silence.

i think the noctua is a little overkill for a core 2 duo. Im sure something a little smaller can still cut down on the noise
