Would the 1.5V DLT3C overclock higher than the 1.6V DUT3C, why?

For Tbred B,
XP1700+ rated 1.5V is coded AXDA1700DLT3C
XP1700+ rated 1.6V is coded AXDA1700DUT3C
XP1800+ rated 1.5V is coded AXDA1800DLT3C
XP1800+ rated 1.6V is coded AXDA1800DUT3C

(For Tbred A, there are only 1.5V rated 1700+, 1800+. They have same code AXDA1700DLT3C and AXDA1800DLT3C also, so be careful. Have to use stepping code such as AIUHB, JIUHB and date to differentiate Tbred B from Tbred A.)

The L stands for rated voltage of 1.5V, the U stands for rated voltage of 1.6V, and K stands for rated voltage of 1.65V. There is no 1.65V rated Tbred XP1700+, XP1800+. The 1.65V is for TBRED B 2400+ and up.

They are based on 0.13 micron silicon technology, as the rest of the Tbred B siblings.

Acutally the lower voltage 1.5V Tbred B version, takes more current running at 1.5V compared to the DUT3C running at 1.6V !!! Both consume same rated power at their rated voltage.

E.g. from Tbred B datasheet, typical active current
1700+ @1.5V, Icc = 29.9A <--- DLT3C interesting, lower Vcore, higher current (or higher power/voltage)
1700+ @1.6V, Icc = 28.0A
1800+ @1.5V, Icc = 30.9A <--- DLT3C interesting, lower Vcore, higher current (or higher power/voltage)
1800+ @1.6V, Icc = 28.9A

This explains why the 1.5V Tbred B version can be overclocked to a frequency comparable to other XP, from 1700+ to 3000+ (and beyond, highest I heard is 3.1 GHz !!!), but at a lower voltage. This has something to do with the internal transistor characteristics, I suspect lower transistor threshold due to process variation. It remains to be seen whether it can be clocked at higher absolute clcok frequency (at higher voltage), compared to the 1.6V rated ones and the 1.65V bigger siblings, over a large sample.

Since it performs equally well at a lower starting voltage, it looks like it has the potential to become the top overclockers, provide that it can handle higher voltage without generating more heat per voltage due to leakage current, or no run away heat/voltage control problem.

Since the 1.5V can deliver similar clock performance at lower Vcore, there is a lesser need for a Vcore mod.

If you are running either a TB 1700+ or 1800+ with 1.5V or 1.6V rated ones, please post:

the highest clock frequency obtained, with Vcore, and if possible, stepping code, cooling means and loaded/unloaded die temperature.

as requested though I cannot say my experiences are proof positive since I only tested one example of each voltage type.

1700+ T-Bred B DUT3C 0308UPMW 2422mhz @ 2.02v stable P95
1700+ T-Bred B DLT3C 0307VPMW 2400mhz @ 1.75v stable P95

Everything else in system the same hardware software

One of the chips I just tested in a NF7-S v1.2 board was:
AXDA1700DLT3C
9571376251650
JIUHB0308SPMW

It ran up to 2400 (200x12) with 1.8v. Seemed stable while running 3DMark2001SE and Folding@Home, although the temperatures started going a little too high for my liking. With a Volcano 11 (admitted, not the best) the chip hit 53-54C while Folding.

Another DLT3C 1700+ hitting 2.4 GHz @1.8 V.

Pls add your nice 1700/1800 oc here.

recieved my board, ram and new hsf today and got my little 1700 in there and im amazed. i jumped right to 173x12.5 @2.1 and it was rock stable @1.6vcore. so i jumped again to [email protected] and im burning in now @1.6vcore. so far so good. i cant wait to see how far this will go. thanks for all the suggestions! :D  :burn: ;)

Another initial result at 2.2 GHz @1.6V reported.

1700 DLT3C JIUHB0307 Results!

I got it yesterday and I have got it to boot into windows at 2375 but it wont run 3Dmark. I just turned down the fsb to 180 and it boots and does 3dmark all the way through and I'm running prime 95. I only have a 12.5 mutli and only 1.75 volts available so I'm about topped out, but not bad for 76 dollars.:D
I got it from www.excaliberpc.com. Will post more after more testing. specs so far are 2250 mhz @ 1.75 volts idle temp while I'm typing is 35c but its hot in here. I haven't seen it go to 40c yet! Memory is 180 fsb @2.85 volts. I think my memory is holding me back a bit. May get some HyperX ordered. Think it could help?

Another result at 2.2 - 2.3 GHz @ 1.75 V, 2.2 GHz stable at 1.75 V

MY 1700+ 0310upmw

Thread number umpteen LOL these chips are just awesome... I didn't quite get to where I wanted yet... but I'm satisfied to justify not going back to a 1600+ @ 1816 MHz

My Comp so far:

1700+ 0310UPMW

Gigabyte 7VAX
12.5x 177FSB = 2212.5 MHz @ ~1.75V
SLK-800 W/ 50 CFM crystal fan
256 Mb Samsung cl 2.5 PC2700
Idle/Load: 36C/43C

Checked for stability w/ P95 @ 5 hrs

Another 1700+ DLT3C doing 2.2 GHz at 1.75V

1700+ JIUHB:0307 VPMW DLT3C (excaliber)

1.5v > max stable 2100-2200 mHz
1.6v > max stable 2300 mHz
1.75v > max stable 2400 mHz
1.9v > max stable 2500 mHz

haven't tried any higher. all this with good air cooling (Swiftech MCX-462+ & Delta 80cfm)

I have a second chip with same code, it does the same but requires about 0.05v more at 2100-2400 mHz and won't run stable at 2500 mHz even with 1.95v. Delegated it to my wife's silent computer where it is happy doing 2000 mHz at 1.4v...

Both of these 0307 DLT3C chips are superior overclockers to the three different 2100+ chips I had (AIUHB's:0248, 0301, 0306). And all of them were pretty good, hitting at least 2300 mHz.

Up to this point, 9 reported:

most are between 2.2 GHz - 2.4 GHz under 1.8 V

all should be able to do 2.2 GHz

1 to 2.5 GHz at 1.95 V
3 to 2.4 GHz at ~1.8 V
2 to 2.3 GHz at ~1.7 V
2 to 2.2 GHz at ~1.6 V
1 to 2.1 GHz at ~1.5 V (can go higher)

Keep going !!

1700 DLT3C WPMW Week 10.
Abit NF7-S Rev 1.2 Bios 15
2*256 Ram.

At 2500mhz with 1.825 volts I hit around 52-55 celcius in an open case with a Vantec Aeroflow. This is after 4 hours of Prime95 of course.

This DLT3C Tbred B hits 2.5 GHz with 1.825 V.

DLT3C 1800+ 0309 does 2000MHz on stock voltage (166*12)

Wow...and on a crappy Vantec 6040H heatsink!

Do you have the stepping code such as JIUHB, ... Is it a Tbred A or Tbred B?

0309 looks like a Tbred B. Have you tried running it a little higher, say using 1.6 V than the 1.5 V stock.

From what I saw on air, it takes about
1.6V to 2.2 GHz
1.7V to 2.3 GHz
1.8V to 2.4 GHz

Well this things being a pain in my ***. It wont do much OVER 2000MHz at all. It seems to take 2GHz at 1.5V like a pro, but as soon as I bump it up to 2083, it gives up like a little *****.

Great choice!
My 0310 XPMW just finished 27hrs of prime95 @12x193 with core at 1.625v
temp was 42c with a tk7+ at med setting
bumping it up to 12x196 for another round

Another Tbred B DLT3C doing 2.3 GHz w/ 1.625 V, mb is 8RDA+.

I have a 1700+ DUT3C at 1.7V, and the max it can hit seems to be 1870 (170x11)

Is the 1.6V DUT3C a TBRED A or B? The stepping code and date can tell.
