i was planning to use CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W as my PSU, will this PSU be up to the job? or should i get the 750w version of that PSU?

the 650 will have plenty of power but for the $10 (or $20 counting rebates) difference in price on newegg i'd go for the 750 personally (assuming your in the US)

650 will be fine and will give you plenty of solid power for a cheap price. If you are looking at modular which I recommend, the HX 520 and 620 would also easily handle and single GPU system including the 4870x2 and GTX 295 card.
