WoW The Warden and "The Governor". . what next??

While The Warden may run in the background and snoop what you have running, this is hardly spyware.

Spyware is malicious. It sends personal data to 3rd parties to use for monitary gain. The Warden sends program data (even if it is regarding all running programs) to Blizzard to determine hacking methods used.

This actually strikes me as a bit of a paradox. People hate cheaters. Lord knows that I do, but many people are clearly not willing to accept the steps that Blizzard has taken to prevent cheating in it's online world. I would imagine that The Warden is very effective at what it does, even if it's methods are somewhat questionable (although perfectly legal. Do people even read the EULAs anymore?).

If you don't want The Warden snooping what you have running, then turn off whatever you don't want it looking at. If you don't want The Warden running on your system, then uninstall World of Warcraft, cancel your account, and contact Blizzard for a refund, stating that you do not agree to the EULA (the EULA that you should've read when you installed the game, and after every patch revision).

as long as anticheating is all their doing with it I really don't care if they start doing more with it then Ill care a lot

Heh... It seems only non-wow players have a big deal with it. The wow players I know think its a great idea, how often do you see cheating in WoW? Older blizzard games (D2) had rampant cheating, I applaud blizzard for actually doing something about it.

Honestly, I'm on board with it. Up to this point WoW has been nothing but fun for me, and this is in part due to Blizzard's amazing customer service - which includes keeping the game free of hacks.

I have absolutely no problem with it as long as it's being used as it's stated in the EULA (not that I ever read the damn thing). :p

Blizz seems to have things locked down pretty tight in terms of the anti-cheating/botting/exploiting in WoW. It's very nice to see a game that you can't really get away with anything in. If they could just get rid of the damn gold farmers... they're ruining the economy on a lot of the servers...

im not cheating and im not running kidporn.exe so #care what they do to stop the naughty people in their tracks.

The FBI has just qued in on this thread with the key word kidporn.exe and now they've traced your user name back to your home address and you are under 24/7 survalence.

D'OH the pizza van just pulled up outside my house:p

Congrats to blizzard on being proactive against cheaters.

Lets see some more companys lay the smackdown, my hats off to you blizz

I see nothing wrong with anti cheating. . I have no urge to cheat on a game. To me there is no point in cheating. . Where's the fun right?? But I find it rather sickening to see that even GAMES use programs to monitor your activities. I dont really like the idea of a game looking over my shoulder to be sure Im being a good boy. Cheaters and bot programs do indeed suck and take the fun away from the players who are legit. I think however some of the measures taken by Blizzard and others(StarForce comes to mind here) are a bit extreme. Thanks to all the CHEATS out there for making the rest of our gaming lives a pain. For the rest of us, it looks like we are stuck with all these so called 'anti-cheats' and the like. Happy Gaming Folks

PS: What stinks the most to me is that Blizzard IS(IMHO) one of the BEST game producers out there.
