I've decided to upgrade. This is a before and after comparison. Please note, this system is not overclocked at the moment. I've chosen to do a comparison between stock core speed, as you don't see them very often (and quite frankly I'm too anxious to get this cooler installed to OC the cpu at the moment )

Ambient temps ~26 degrees. Previously, I could only clock to about 3.9 Ghz before core temps reached well into the 50's. And even then, it wasn't very stable. A 24/7 overclock was really only doable at 3.7 ish. A good note on this cooler though is that it is definitely very quiet.

I'll submit more info as I install.

Here is stock:

Good data so far, you even mentioned ambients. Was your old cooler with the stock fans? Are you using a case or a tech stand? If a case you got awesome case airflow? Or limited.

Your new cooler is supposedly pretty good, let us know!

Yes, Zalman had stock 92 mm fan. I'm using my CM Storm enforcer. Airflow is very good, as the front 200mm pulls in cool air, the rear 120 exhausts directly behind the cooler and two 120mm pwm cougar fans on top (forward fan blows down onto cooler, rear exhausts).

Can I use photobucket to tag photos to here? Or is it preferred I upload them directly to OC'ers?

Interesting. I'm having this issue:

[Wed Jul 17 20:59:41 2013]
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4

Temps are well within normal range, stock core speed, nothing changed. Any advice?

EDIT: I did remove the heat spreaders on my vengeance ram, and I've got those clocked to 1866. Could that be an issue? Is there software that can give me ram temps? Did unplugging that ram from the mobo reset my OC profile for those sticks?

It VERY well could be. Drop the Mem back to stock and run Memtest for 24 hours, then run at the higher speeds for 24 hours. Might be lacking voltage, mebbe heat issue, dunno.

No ram temp stuff out there, ram doen't have a sensor .

Mebbe a ghetto fan on the ram try it again?

I got an error during memtest. Checking my memory in AIDA 64, does this look right? It's been a while since I clocked RAM, and frankly, I've forgotten what I'm doing with that.

Well, that problem aside, here are some photos of the install. Took about 1.5 hours since I opted to remove the mobo to make this process easier.

Happy Day!

The red looks kind of pink in certain light.

Fresh and clean.

Plenty of room to spare to the first card slot (was a concern of mine with the silver arrow extreme, and a deciding factor for the phantek).

It's hard to tell in the picture, but only the heatpipes actually made contact with the processor on the Zalman cooler.

Reset memory clocks to auto for now. Seems to have cleared up core failure issues. Results look VERY promising so far.

You'll also noticed the fans never went past ~1060 rpm. Max speed is 1300rpm I believe. Dead silent too. I think the loudest piece of equipment would be the my sickle flow exhaust fan (aside from the GPU at full load).

Ambient ~25 C

Nicely done!
Down from 23/45c@26c to 16/31c@25c is very good. Temps are obviously reading low but does show how much better 14PE is cooling.

I notice you got the new PH-T140HP fans too.. They are a little better than the original fans.

Looks great and the Temps are nice as well, next is the third fan and it will come down some more! Yeah you will get that ram sorted then your good to go. AJ. :D:thup:

I haven't seen the new fans for sale anywhere yet, not even listed on Phanteks website. They show them on the 14PE cooler and give specs but that's it.

Same here been looking all day to find those pesky new fans, ohh well maybe it will be released soon! I can not remember if you did see my Phanteks cooler here! AJ. :D

Looks really nice AJ!

I was very lucky. When I got my new black 14PE it came with 3 of the new fans. :D

New fans have different corners and motor mount braces. Vibrarion mounts on new are in the mounting hole instead of a pad on either side of hole.

Ah, nice cooler. I was going to get one, but it won't fit in my case. The Noctua I have is a real squeeze.

Hope you enjoy it!
