I am rebuilding my girlfriend's rig this week and decided to use my old P182 Gun Metal case.

I did a custom case for her before here.

This is what it will somewhat look like.

Parts, since I know you are all curious

Q9450 w/ HDT s1283
GA EP45-UP3L
9800GT w/ Akasa vortexx neo
4gb OCZ Gold DDR2800
Blue Storm II
Raptor 150GB
WD 250gb Caviar for storage

Need to:

  • Give it to her now!

DONE:

  • I started last night and managed to cut out the plastic slats in the front vents. Will post some pics up of those later.
  • Tested new board to make sure non-DOA.
  • Pulled PSU and drives from old case
  • Paint the front face and side panels red, as well as the front grills and top mesh red.
  • Cut out the lame slats in the front removable panels so some air can get through.
  • Dremel out some more steel mesh.
  • Put in a 92mm fan for the harddrives.

Looking forward to seeing this WonderingSoul, liked the last one you did for GF, this is a major upgrade for her for sure!

Mod On bro!

Primer is down and waiting for it to dry. While it does, here are some pics.

Slats cut out of the grill. You can see the difference in them like night and day

Yes I wear slippers in the garage!

Heading out now to lay down the red.

Yeah, great job so far!

...how come she gets a better cpu than i do.... no fair.

Answer: You wouldn't do everything she does for him would you?

(Hope I didn't offend you, WonderingSoul, I just couldn't help myself...nd4spdbh2 set himself up for that one...)

Matt...dont ask questions you dont want the answer to.

Checked out the paint this morning. It's setting up really well. I am going to put on another coat when I get home from work.

I tested out the motherboard I got from newegg yesterday and it's all good.

I need to dremel out the case a little bit which I will do tomorrow after painting the case. After that I can start throwing everything together inside the case.

$26 dollars later...

The P182's PSU bay is at the bottom. P4 cable doesn't reach. I need to rush order overnight a 12" extension.

Oh well.

The panels are curing today and should be good to go tonight for a mock set up.

Installed Windows last night as well.

Expect pics tonight!

Hope you got the NXT 24 pin extension, being they are already sleeved.

That's the beauty of the P182, the connection will be hidden and you won't even know

Pics so far as promised:

I pulled the tape off too early  Nothing a razor blade can't fix.

Going to let Prime95 run all night tonight and better have my stupid extension tomorrow and get everything in the case.

I am posting this from the new rig :)

Everything in the case and running like a champ.

Finished everything up. Here are the shots.

I really like how the P128 looks and the inside is a great setup IMO. The red just makes it all pop even more! Nice work.
