I was reading up Vcore Mode and they always use a fixed resistant resistor, I was wondering if just using potentiometer and use multimeter to measure/set the resistant.

For example, if I use a resistor that has 220k and I was able to get 2.09v and later I want to push my to 2.2v, I would want to lower that R from 220k to 215k or 210k right? Using potentiometer would be very easy instead of changing the resistor and sold them onto the mobo again, would it have any kind of harmful effect using potentiometer?
