Apache server hanging on restart?

I just setup an apache server on winXP pro on a P43.0 with 512 ram.
It seems that apache.exe is hanging for 2-3 minutes before restarting.Is this normal?
It's my first time

I guess it may be re-reading config files or loading modules or something. On linux an apache restart goes pretty fast on my server (Celly 2.0, 512MB). Tried checking the logs?

Depending on how many files you have alias an paramiters.
I run apache 2 on my dell server.. 1.6ghz celeron, 384mb, ram 2x 20GB hd.
Apache restarts in 4-10 seconds.

I use xampp by the way. www.apache-friends.com << pwns!

most probably a DNS issue where apache can't resolve its own hostname or somesuch.
