I just played for two hours and the screen froze.

Latest beta driver hasn't done much besides make it look better in between crashes I suppose... only thing I haven't tried is a fresh w7 install...

I have had the odd freeze as well but not to many . They got the ram usage down a bit and better fps on ultra . But has any one else noticed that suppression is kicking in like crazy now ?

Thought that was pretty true of the beta from my time period.

(What it is like to be in the minigun on the helicopter). Apparently it takes about 40-50 bullets from the damn thing to kill someone.

That's too funny! I feel like all the guns are like that but the minigun is pretty bad for sure.

Me too, but I've been playing BF3 on nothing but hardcore for the last 2 months, so I thought it was just me acclimating back to the "normal" world.

Yeah, nothing like the tank machine gun (what .50 cal?) taking a couple shots to kill infantry. I could see non hardcore maybe 2 shots.. but more than that is ridiculous.

What's the scoop on the Windows 8 huge performance leaps over Windows 7 users? I would think that W7 and W8 would be theoretically similar within +/- 5 FPS of one another.

I figured it would be fixed with WHQL drivers and dll optimization. I don't want to go to W8 but for that kind of a leap it may have been worth it. Good to hear I assumed correctly.

By the last patch before the beta ended, they had it fixed so W7 was not stuttering and having huge problems with minimum FPS during random events like voice overs and aiming down sights.

I think it would be very difficult to get an apples-to-apples comparison of average and minimum FPS in a 64 player environment since there is so much variance with what's going on in the game, how you're playing, etc.

Game comes out in 2 weeks. They had it open for 2 weeks enough time to get feedback and build buzz.

Honestly not sure they left the BF3 Beta open till like 2 days before release... Makes this feel like a real beta though.

I believe Direct2Play has BF4 for $49.99; I'm kind of waiting to see how the 290X's are priced w/ BF4 before I pre-order...

I was getting Freezing after 2 hours, I'm not going to take a chance with BF4 till they get all the bugs out.
