Bench mark scores on Maxtor

I have a maxtor 8 + 30 gig ata 100 and am using pc mark 2002.

I got a score of 725 on the hdd.


Shouldn't this be higher?

Would this be caused by using pc 133 instead of ddr. I have a 1300 duron and ecs k7s5a.


When I boot it says mode 5 next to the hard disk


Any suggestions?

By the way , I shut all of the programs running in the back ground down before the benchmark.

If it says ultra dma mode 5 then it is running the fastest that it can go. I had a 20 gig western digital that got scores like yours. I changed it with a 40 gig wd and got scores up in the high 900's. It's possible that its lower because of the ram and processor. I would do a diagnostic test on it to make sure everything is functioning properly.
