I have a cheap set of self powered speakers. They cost me like $35.00 at ebay.
Problem is that they have really poor sound quality , imo.
I guess i am asking what are your guy's opinions for the best speakers available on the market that are less than $100. I am looking for something to go along with my sound blaster 5.1 live pci card.

I've got that set. They're powerful speakers, good sounding sub. Just dumb things like the Bass control being on the back of the sub and having no treble control are the frustrating parts.

Check out the Logitech Z640's on newegg. They still might have a 20 dollar rebate attached. That would make them 47 bucks plus 7 for shipping. For a 73 watt 5.1 system, I think this ranks right up there. They also sound damn good. Check em out at a local retailer.

I sugest for go to a HIFI shop, not a PC shop,
then you get some nice small hifi speakers,
and find a cheap 2 x 50 w amp at ebay,
real wood speakers = god
plastic speakers = poo
