Broadband booster?

do you connect it to your cable modem, and it connects to the router?

sounds like it would be pretty good if it works.

p.s. have you looked to see if there are any other broadband boosters?

I'm not sure if it works, but I do know that IPCop has a similar function. You probably already have at least one old PC that you can turn into an IPCop.

He means, you can use any old PC to run a BSD or Linux router distro like IPCop. Those ALL can do QoS like this box does, but you don't have to pay $100 for it.

This thing is nice and all, but the feature belongs in the router, not an external box. Maybe for a few $ more than the standard router, but definitely not $100. That's just a ripoff. All this thing probably does is acting as another router, and prioritizing TCP ACKs (which BSD also does). If you really look closely it might even run OpenBSD or somesuch.

As everyone else has aid it is just a basic QoS device that prioritizes traffic for one service over another. The feature is built into many routers too.
