is there anything i can improve on? my budget is 1k. thanks.

It looks good. Only things I don't like are the case and memory. I am just not a fan of the 900, it is cramped and wire management can be trying. I would try and squeeze in a HAF 932 if you can but it is a bit pricey.

For the ram I can't stand the heatspreaders. They serve no functional purpose but case clearance issues. Skip them and go with something with normal heatspeaders. Newegg has some CAS7 1600Mhz OCZ's for $80 which is a pretty good deal.

You can save some money by going with a cheaper 4890, they are all pretty much the same with a different sticker on them. The differences are the CS you get. The best balance with price/CS would be the XFX. Its $40 cheaper than the one you linked.

To shave a few more dollars off you could drop the CPU down to a 940 without giving up a whole lot.
*edit* scratch the 940, I forgot it was AM2+, keep the 955

If you intend to OC don't forget a HSF, the Dark Knight is a good balance of $/performance.
