Is there any way of checking the rpm of a 2 wire fan? Or can I wire the fan to plug into a 3 pin connector where it will display the rpm?

Some fans may have a third solder pad in the area that the other two wires are connected to it's circuit board, or if it's a plugin like panaflo fans have, it may have the third pin. A third wire can be connected here to give you the rpm sensor wire.

If it does not have this third solder area or plugin, then you won't be able to monitor it's rpm in any way I know of.

so the third pin on a panaflo 80mm H does carry the RPM signal? I just hooked one up and I'm not getting a reading off of it. It may be the connection that I made but I figured it wasn't made for it.
