Im trying to build a pc for gaming, mostly RTS and RPGs. I would like to be able to play these two up coming gaming on the max settings or at least close to that upon there release. http://www.game-debate.com/games/ind...f Heroes 2 and http://www.game-debate.com/games/ind...r: Rome II.

My budget is around $750. I don't have a brand preference so if you would like to make some suggestions from other brands please full free to do so. I plan on ordering it within the next 3 weeks. I'm a little nervous when looking for parts because I'm afraid not everything would be compatible. Your input is greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Hey, welcome to OCF!

When trying to recommend a build to you, there's some information that's extremely helpful for us to know. If you could answer these few short questions, we'd be happy to help!

  • What are you planning to do with this compuer? Please be as specfic as possible. - Heroes 2, Rome II
  • What is your budget? - $750
    1. Does this include a copy of Windows? - Yes
    2. Does this include peripherals (a keyboard, monitor, mouse, speakers, etc.)?
  • Are you from the United States or a different country? Are you ordering from your own country or from across borders?
    1. Wherever you may be from, does the store that you are planning to order from have a website? It's okay if it isn't in English, we can manage.
    2. If you are from the United States, do you live nearby a Microcenter?
  • Do you have any specific requests with the build?
    1. Do you plan on overclocking? If yes, do you have a specific goal in mind?
    2. Would you prefer the build to be particularly small?
    3. Would you prefer the build to be particularly quiet?
    4. In general, do you prefer this to be a computer that you can spend money on now and let it rest, or a box built for continuous upgrading?
    5. Do you ever plan on utilizing NVIDIA's SLI or AMD's CrossfireX technologies? These features, with a compatible motherboard, allow a user to link multiple identical graphic cards together for added performance. In real world terms, this lets you buy a second identical graphics card down the line as a relatively cheap and easy way to gain a fairly large boost in performance. However, this requires buying a SLI/CFX compatible motherboard and PSU now, which may result in slightly higher initial cost.

Once again, thank you in advance for taking the time to answer these, and I hope you enjoy your stay at OCF! :)

Thanks for the reply.

Does this include peripherals (a keyboard, monitor, mouse, speakers, etc.) no. i plan on use my old peripherals.

I live in the US and i plan on ordering from amazon and i live somewhat close to a microcenter

Do you plan on overclocking? No plans as of yet
Would you prefer the build to be particularly small? No
Would you prefer the build to be particularly quiet? Somewhat quiet
In general, do you prefer this to be a computer that you can spend money on now and let it rest, or a box built for continuous upgrading? I do plan on being box built for continuous upgrading but it would be ok if it doesnt turn out that way.
Do you ever plan on utilizing NVIDIA's SLI or AMD's CrossfireX technologies? No

Everything looks to be compatible i can say from first hand experience that the cx500 is a good power supply and reliable.

The CPU is good it is right in the middle plus the 4300 is only 6% faster in single threaded applications but in multithread the 6300 is 30% faster.

One thing you might want is a SSD to cut down on loading time for those games since they tend to take awhile to load if that bothers you.

If you are not going to run SLI or overclock i would say get a micro atx since you will be using a mid tower case.

Also are you set on that case because of the aesthetics if not you might consider the Coolermaster HAF 912 for its great airflow which will keep your GPU and CPU happy :) and if you wanted to make the system more quite you could install 200mm fans. Only downside is it does not have that cool temperature monitoring.

Thank you for the reply. As far as the load times, they don't really bother me and do you have a good micro atx that comes to mind?

As far as the case i pick it just for the aesthetics:p

These are two nice boards the biostar does not have many reviews on amazon but on newegg it has over 200 and it is also cheaper with free shipping.
http://www.amazon.com/Biostar-880G-...80G+HDMI+SATA+6Gb/s+Micro+ATX+AMD+Motherboard
Or the asus is also a good choice
http://www.amazon.com/M5A78L-M-LX-P...1370753605&sr=8-2&keywords=asus+micro+atx+am3
Has more reviews on newegg if you want more info

Also as these boards are cheaper you could put that money into getting a evga 660 2 gb.

He said he didn't want to overclock...I wouldn't go with an AMD FX in that case.

Yes that's true, but who know maybe down the line he will need some more performance and all he will have to do is get a new cooler and overclock instead of buying a new chip.

Thanks for all the feedback people.

Quick question, say somewhere down the line i decided to run SLI or overclock should i keep my current motherboard?

No...SLI won't be fine. It only has one full PCIe 2.0 x16 support. The only way I see that board supporting quad GPUs is sticking two 7990s in there, which is going to be major bottlenecked by the x4 slot. Quad CFX support on that board is just bad marketing.
