Hello.

I purchase g,skill F4-3200C15D-32GTZ cl 15-15-15-35 https://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-3200c15d-32gtz
As I read from @Woomack review they are samsung B-die chip (are the same ram with red top line).

Before I bougth the ram I search and find that we can decode from serial number the chip maker, as an example from the up review
the SN is 1627A5002497652

the first 4 digits before the letter show us the year and week of production (2016 year and 27 week),
next after the letter→ 5 is for samsung and 4 for hynix, so the ram of review are samsung chip.

The ram I bought yesterday the SN has these form 17421138337 and 17421138338, complete different from the above form.
I contact with g.skill they confirm that the SN is legal but they haven't information if they are samsung or hynix chip
Dear Customer,

Both are G.SKILL serial numbers.
We apologize for the inconvenience as we do not have the access the information.

Thank you for your support.

Tech Support Team

These ram are new production as they are 42 week of 2017 (20/10/2017)
The serial number you have submitted corresponds to the following product specifications:
Serial Number: 17421138337
Product Model Number: F4-3200C15D-32GTZ
Date: 2017/10/20
Memory Type: DDR4
Capacity: 32GB (16GBx2)
Multi-Channel Kit: Dual Channel Kit
Tested Speed: 3200MHz
Tested Latency: 15-15-15-35
Tested Voltage: 1.35v

Has anyone else purchase g.skill with the new serial number and if yes, if he can share the chip maker, to be sure before I open the box.
If they are not samsung b-die I would return the ram to take cheaper.
Also if we know how decode the new serial number.

Thanks

If you have 115x Intel board or AMD then software should read IC. AIDA64 will tell you brand, Thaiphoon Burner ( even free version ) will tell you more details.

3200 15-15-15 should be Samsung just because there are no Hynix or Micron IC in mass sales at so tight timings.
G.Skill is not sharing what IC they are using since beginning of this year when they started to use Hynix in Trident Z RGB and Ripjaws V 3000/3200 at more relaxed timings ( read CL15-16-16, 16-16-16, 16-18-18 ). However I'm almost sure that 3200 CL15-15-15 or any higher frequency memory kits are still based on Samsung IC because of what I already said so Hynix/Micron simply can't work at these settings.

Thanks both for the informations,
I wanted to avoid opening the package for the low probability of not being samsung b-die and return it to the store.

As you said correct (and now that I look better the sn) they remove the four "middle" digits (A500, A400 etc) that we can decode the chip maker.

So I wait if someone else has bought recently the same ram at 16gb or 32gb 3200 cl15-15-15-35 3200hz with the "new" form of serial number.
