game boy screens in a case mod?

Alright, so I've got a 1980's-vintage Game Boy as well as a Game Boy Color I'd be willing to sacrifice in the name of modding. Is there any way to cannibalize the LCDs and use them to display info somehow?

There have been several threads on this in the past, just try searching for 'gameboy'. If I recall the results weren't to good, and better things happened with Gamegears, but still not the desired result.
