help asap on SMP decision (time constraints)

ok, i really need soem help on deciding what to do
and timin gis crucial becasue i will be leaving with o wihtout
the hardware depending on what i read. (ill eb in taiwan ffor another 3 days)

right now i have my rig

athlonXP 2100+
512ddr
abit kr7a-raid

bu ti will also be able to build a
dual P3- 733/667/or866
1024mb sdram system

i can only keep one system
so, do i keep my current AMD rig or
do i ditch it and build the dual P3 system

i dont play gaems much anymore, except for an occasional counterstrike or
deusEX. but mostly i use my computer to do sound editing for my band.

my main question is
does DDR and SDRAM really differ too much?
and
if there is cheap dual p3 board i can get that can support DDR
so i can use my dualies with my old DDR sticks
so what doyou think i should do
