I dont know if phase change cooled CPU's count, but I got a new high out of my 1700+ yesterday :)

XPMWmax3.JPG

problem is, on this NF7 the FSB jumps from 233 to 236, and it only just fails to load at 236... so I think I could go a little higher still with more refined FSB. It clocks less good at multi's 12.5 and 14x so thats no solution either :(

1700+ Tbred B 0310UPMW

Prime95 stable limits, air, 40C load temp

1.775 vcore = 2312 MHz
1.85 vcore = 2363 MHz

CPU won't scale well above 1.85. Took it up to 1.9 vcore with no significant increase in speed.

Finally got a chance to play with my 1700+ DLT3C JIUHB 0309 MPMW. I have it currently running at 12.5 * 175 = 2.188 GHz with 1.60 volts. I think my PC2700 memory is holding me back. I can get it load W2K at 12.5*180= 2.25 GHz, but it fails Prime95 pretty quickly. I'm going to run MemTest on it later, and verify if it is really the memory holding me back. I will let you know.

(edit) I got some PC3200 memory yesterday and now have it running at 12.5*182= 2.3 GHz with 1.70 volts. I ran Prime95 for about 3 hours and did not have any errors. It looks like I need to get some better cooling though, because it is running at 47C load (which is a little too high for me).

Well since the last post i made in here, I've gotten my 1700 to 2.46 Ghz at 1.85vcore. Thats the farthest I'm gonna go stable, and my temps are at 47C load 41C idle.

well, its all in my sig. Im pretty satisfied- JIUHB 0307VPMW @ 2.44ghz! 12.5x195; 1.8 vcore

any suggestions that would allow me to OC further?

My 1700+ DLT3C (JIUHB 0308SPMW) is going strong @2.5ghz (200*12.5) with 1.825 vcore. Had to increase vcore from 1.75 (2.4 GHz) for theese extra 100MHz.

JUIHB 310 WPMW
Asus A7N8X DLX rev1.04
Alpha PAL8045 with 39cfm Sunon 80mm fan and AS2
Crucial PC2100 (5-2-2-2)
Antec TP 430w PS

2.08ghz @ 1.5v (1.46 actual voltage, but fluctuates +/- .08v)
12.5x166, and as I said, 5-2-2-2 on the ram @ 2.8v vdimm.

The ram is obviously holding me back. This is the highest the ram can go @ 2.8v running 5-2-2-2. Soon I'll invest in some PC3200 Hyper X (cuz I'm poor!).

Happy overclocking :)

Methusela

EDIT: my temps @ full load are: 45C core, 31C system (I am in a hot environment w/o AC)

Oh, almost forgot!

My friend asked me to suggest a system for him for quiet, speedy operation. I recommended almost the same thing I have above, except that he's got an 1700+ 310 XPMW, Antec True Blue 350w PS, Kingston Hyper X PC3200, and an Abit NF7-S rev 2.0, and AS3 instead of my AS2.

He's running, currently, 12.5x180 @1.5v vcore, 2.25ghz. Ram is at 5-2-2-2 timings, of course, because lower latency = huge performance gains :). His pc is nearly silent, with the same HSF combo as mine, and runs 47C full load (after 72 hours of p95) core, 35C system (he's in a hot environment).

Happy trails :)

I've hit my limit; stabilitywise. 2.4Ghz @ 12 x 200. 32.5C Load. I want to get hold of some faster memories and try some more.

Sorry to post here, I had 2100 +, but I want to buy 1700.

I wanna know how important is for OC bolded ?

AXDA 1700 xxxxxxx26XXXX (BOLD)

I can buy

AXDA 1700 xxxxxxx260745
JUIHB0308 .......

That's not really important, except for the JUIHB and the 03XX part... as that tells you it's a Tbred "B" and the week it was manufactured (syntax = year [03, 2003] and week of this year [08 = eigth week of this year]).

Those are important considerations, but for overclocking the 1700+ Tbred "B" you want JUIHB 0310 (typically, although 0302 and 0308 seem to be OK overclockers... just not as good as 0310 batch). Also, you want to get the WPMW or XPMW steppings, as they are proven to be the best overclockers on this forum, by FAR!

Order from www.excaliberpc.com if you're in the US/Canada because they have these chips in stock, albeit at a price premium because they GUARANTEE the steppings and batches.

One last thing, the DLT3C batches mean 1.5v stock voltage, and these are proving to be better overclockers than the 1.6v stock voltage DUT3C cpus.

Word to the wise, my brutha :)

Thnx, I know all except that last 4 numbers, I heard its better that they are lower ... 0000 or 0100, or 0300 (max).

Once more sorry for posting it here !

yah lower seems better ..... i had a 0030 w/c does 2.1ghz at 1.5v but the other one 0254 only 2ghz at 1.5volts ..... both same steppings ...

Snatch that Epox 8RDA3+ when it comes out then, sure wish I could :)
