I have a plextor 24x ide and a pioneer 16x dvd. i have the plextor set to master and the pioneer set to slave. i am positive i have the ide cables connected inside the case correctly. Right before windows xp pro boots, it says : Secondary IDE MASTER Plextor.... ATA 33 and Secondary IDE SLAVE Pioneer .... ATA 66.

Shouldnt these be running at ata 100? does anybody know how to fix this? my hdd is running at ata100

no, these shouldn't be running at ATA 100. they run at the highest speed supported by both the controler and the device. most CD-RW's are ata33, so they run at ata 33 with ata 33,66,100 and 133 controlers. same thing with the DVD.

Actually I'm more surprised that your DVD drive is running at 66...

I didn't think they needed more than 33, and I haven't seen any at 66...wonder if it makes a difference...
