So I read that "Gaming LCD" Thread, but it hasn't been updated in a while. So I was hoping to get some feedback on newer monitors.

The background: I have a 19" CRT, I play games exclusivly on this computer, Its running on a 7800GT.

My ideas so far: I'm thinkin about the 19" or a 20" widescreen. I won't claim that I notice 45 fps compared to 100 fps but I would argue that I see the drops in framerate and that can be annoying. I have a 7800GT and probably won't be acquiring a new graphics card anytime soon, so I need it to run pretty well at whatever native resolution. I don't play games for eye candy as much as immersion, so I don't need 16x aa and all that jazz. And my last question is as follows:
If you have two settings to pick from: a) 1280x1024 with all settings maxed compared to b) 1600x1050 with medium settings , which would look better? would there be a performance (FPS) difference?

I'd like to spend less than 400, preferably closer to 300 or less.

I've found a couple I like, let me know what you think.

Widescreen:
SAMSUNG 205BW Black 20" 6ms DVI Widescreen LCD ~$300

BenQ FP202W Black 20.1" 8ms DVI Widescreen $260
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824014105

Standard Screen:
ViewSonic VX922 Black/Silver 19" 2ms DVI LCD $250
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824116375

BenQ FP93GX Black 19" 2ms DVI LCD $220
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824014111

So I could use your help/recommendations. If you have a great gaming monitor and I didn't find it, let me know. And its going to be used exclusivly for gaming. Thanks for the help!

Ah I just saw that, but I guess I didn't go into the technical specs, it beats the benq in everything but price.

HDCP over DVI (not that I care), 5ms response time, .258mm dot pitch (assuming smaller is better), 800:1 contrast, and 300 cd/m^2

Hmm.. that looks like the heavy favorite.

My question still stands, what combination of resolution and settings would look better, 12x10 and max, or 16x10 and mediumish?
