Over the past couple of weeks I've had some issues with errors on GPU WUs. Several people have reported this as well, and I've gradually take my OCs down to try get my cards stable. At some point I decided that upgrading video drivers was a good idea. I now have 4 out of 5 cards that are folding.

I'm sure I did something stupid, but can't figure out what it is. I'm getting errors on all WUs on these 4 cards. See a sample log below. I've tried deleting all the WU and core info - that didn't help. I tried uninstalling all video drivers and then reinstalling everything from nVidia and also installing just the bare minimum.

When I tried to run the -configonly flag I got the following:

RDPP Chained DD detected
At present your GPU is not supported or you need a current driver.

Folding@Home Client Shutdown.

Any thoughts appreciated.

btw, I'm starting to get worn out from the constant tinkering I need to do with multiple video cards and different versions of the software. I do IT stuff for a living, but I really wish the Folding s/w was better behaved. Hoping they come out with something better in the future. I can see the appeal of having a couple of i7 boxes that just do their own thing.

What models are your video cards?

That card running GPU3 is a GTX 460. I have an 8800 GT in the same PC running GPU2. They've both been running fine for weeks.

btw, both are now back to stock speed, so it's not an OC issue.

My next step will be to pull out the 2nd GPU card from both machines and start from scratch. Not what I needed to be doing during the holidays.

Ok, you already know how to run g80s with fermis, so I'm not sure what else to try.

When you say you removed all the wu and core info what does that mean? You should have deleted the work folder and que. dat folder. You left the files needed for it to run, correct?

Yes, I left all the files it needs to run. I deleted the core .exe, work folder and queue.dat files.

One of my gts450s would not fold stable at default stock clock, the mvolts was set to low by the maker. Up the volts a little.

Thanks. Tried that last night too. Didn't seem to help. It almost seems like the drivers aren't allowing F@H to use the hardware. I'll pull one card and downgrade the drivers tonight.

Back up. Uninstalled and reinstalled everything and it seemed to work. Nvidia was installing audio and 3D drivers by default and I didn't let them install this time. Can't say that was it, but am now working.

Those 6800 WUs are a bear! My GTS 450 keeps going into 2D mode. I was a stock shaders and upped the voltage a little. Before leaving for the night I underclocked it just to be sure it would keep going. This is an EVGA card btw, not some crappy no-name brand. I'll guess we need to start paying attention to what cards fold reliably and not just the GPU.
