Am presently on a 5900XT @ stock; 400/700. (Warrantied till May 2007)

Have 2 upgrade options; Trade with a new Abit 5900 OTES with top up of $30-50 (warranty till Apr 2005 only); or sell off my current card and get a new 6600GT with top up of $170-210. (Assuming it sells for around $400, and i currently have an offer of $230 for my card.)

Can the OTES be OC'ed to 500/1000, or somewhere ard there? How much less of a performance would there be between a 5900 @ 500/1000 and a 6600GT @ 500/1000?

Note: this will be my last GFX upgrade for AGP, will be goin on the NF4 bandwagon nx yr. Also, cant afford to look at the 6800/X800 class cards, the 6800 sells for ard $570-590 locally, which is a ripoff from the RRP of USD$250.

The 6600GT is arond $200, $225 for the XFX AGP version. You should have plenty of cash and should probably get the 6600GT as it is proving to perform better than the 9800pro's on both Doom3 and HL2.

Negative. The Gainward GS GLH is $445 for me locally, which is ard 260USD. What with the currency conversion, tax, etc.

If its going to be your last upgrade for a while deffinitly font go with an FX card of any sort. The 6600GT would be great, if not try for a 9800 or 9700pro. The newer games wont even do DX 9 on the FX cards and if they do they slam them so hard they are barely if at all playable. I have a 5800NU clocked to ultra and it does half life 2 fairly well as long as its in DX 8 and no aa or af is used.

Should i go for the Gainward 6600GT GS GLH @ 540/1150 with the 1.6ns RAMs?

I'm probably selling my 5900XT at 238, and the 6600GT costs 445, so it was more or less what i was expecting to spend. Or should i get the non-GLH GS @ 540/1050 ard 400?

The GLH memory is rated to run at 1200MHz, am i wrong to expect that it can be pushed to 1250-1300 without much trouble?

I would deffinitly go for the GS version. Being an OC'er you always want the best binned core and ram you can get, and the GS should give you very good results.
