I most definitely do good sir. Big improvement in games like gta iv. Do you think its possible to go higher?

Yes, you could.

I have the same CPU and I have it stable @3.2 Ghz (400fsb and 8X mult) w/ 1.3250v set in BIOS. Of course, your temps will raise a little but it will still be ok.

Some people have it OC @3.6 Ghz, but in my case that's too high. Probably when I get that H70 Corsair cooler though :)

I tried 3.2 ghz w/ fsb 356 * 9 multiplier (1424 fsb in bios) all the way up to 1.35v and the pc won't boot. Does fine at 3.2 ghz with 400 * 8 nut temps go up about 8c. So 3.0ghz I will stay. Thanks for all the help guys!

Hmm odd problem here. Tried going to 3.4 last night 378x9 (1512mhz in bios) and 1.38 vcore in bios (1.30 in cpu-z).
And after 20 minutes of stress testing temps sky rocketed up to 85c in Core Temp! (right when the 800000 test kicks in in prime95).
I immediately stopped the tests and reverted back to 3.0 as I only get 61c full load after 8hrs prime.
No way it can be my cooler or my case. Cooler is arctic frrezer pro rev. 2 and case is COOLER MASTER Centurion 534. I have 1 120mm fan intake 1 120mm exhaust 1 120mm side for gpu. Maybe my chip just can't take the fsb bump?

85°C?!?!

Dude lookout!!! Try not to burn your chip, really.

If you see it raising above 75°C just drop the hammer and stop the tests for your CPU sake.

Arctic Freezer Pro is a good "middle-class" cooler, but not the best.
Also, your case doesn't seem to have an optimal HAF (High Air Flow).

For my experience: Setting high FSB gets your system warmer.
What I prefer to do, is to play with the multiplier. Of course, once you hit your multiplier limit you have to mess with the FSB.

Why don't you try out my config?
Set 400 FSB and 8X Multiplier. That means your RAM will be synchronous 1:1 and it will perform better for dual-channel.

Let me know if it worked out :D

I immediatly stop the test when I saw those temps. This is a real good idea. I have ddr2 800 ram so probably should do the 400x8. What kind of voltage would you recommend?

Okay 400x8 set.
Bios 1.35v
1 minute into prime95 cores 3,4 fail? Tried from 1.3-1.35 in bios no help

Hey Jorge still no go on the 400x8 man.
Tried voltage vcore all the way up to 1.425
dram 2.2v
HT 1.5
NB 1.5
and SB 1.6 still no go
cores 3,4 fail after about 8 min prime95

with bios at 1.42 cpuz would show around 1.33-1.34
i tried every setting up to those voltages with no avail.
perhaps i have some memory timing wrong? i can post full bios pages if you'd like

Heres the bios as requested. this is what i currently have and is 100% stable.

So here's a small update. I've managed to run my q6600 as low as 1.1v in cpuz @ 333x9 for 9+ hrs in prime95. Bios voltage is set at 1.875v. Anything lower and I lock up or BSOD under prime95. Temperatures have dramatically decreased with idle now at 31 and load around low to high 40's. Here are some pics.
Idle... (Note: the CoreTemp high temps are after 9 hrs of Prime95. During gaming these temps never go above 50c.)

Here's load now. I've seen it as low as 1.10v in cpuz during prime95 stress testing.

Now if only I can get it stable at 400x8 or maybe even 400x9  maybe possible with this chip on air with under 1.3v!

I can't get 400x8 to work for the life of me! I've tried a cpu voltage of up to 1.4 in bios (1.296 cpuz) and NB,SB,HT all up to 1.6v. Even tried memory at 2.11v. I tried dialing the memory timings back to auto to see if that helped but nothing, 4th core keeps failing 5-10 minutes into the test:shrug::shrug:

Try 356 FSB and 9X Multiplier. That will give you around 3.2 Ghz too.
Be carefull on how you set up the Frequency for your RAM using 356 FSB.

Thanks for the response. Thing is, I already try that I can't even boot or post with 356x9. With 400x8 I can get into windows and browse, listen to music but cant pass prime.
